In addition to working in private practice in Shanghai, she has had a variety of experiences including working at a residential substance abuse recovery center, in-home bereavement hospice counseling, university student counseling center, crisis hotline and outpatient counseling at a hospital. She has also worked with children in a variety of settings from summer camp to study abroad to schools.

Christine is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor  and has an MS in Counseling and Human Development from Radford University in the United States and a BS in Psychology from Virginia Tech. She has completed specialized trainings in suicide intervention, strengths counseling, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Gottman Methods. She is also a certified American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Worker.

The primary methods Christine pulls from in counseling are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the postmodern approaches of Narrative, Strengths and Structural therapies, however she recognizes the importance of tailoring her approach to the individual needs and challenges of each client. She performs a thorough needs and goals assessment with her clients in order to collaborate with each individual to develop methods for coping and creating balance in their lives. She believes in working on a combined approach of resolving difficulties from the past, learning new ways to cope more effectively in the present and finding optimal paths forward for the future.

Christine arrived in Shanghai in 2009 and is currently a member of the Shanghai International Mental Health Association. In her free time she enjoys writing, traveling and studying Chinese.
